Effective Classroom Management Strategies SO I went back through my documents from last year and sadly i was unable to find the list of rules I had on the wall. However I did find some sub plans that had general rules listed on them:

Some rules for my classroom:

No getting up unless they ask for permission

No restroom or water breaks

No music or youtube

Students will clean up after themselves

No gum or candy or beverages

I usually don’t enforce too many of these rules unless it becomes an issue. Last year I had major issues with students constantly getting up and roaming around my classroom, wading up pieces of paper just to throw them away so they can talk to their friends. It got to be too much. Again it’s something that I am constantly in a struggle with, most of the time their good kids and I want them to show up and just relax and do their work. Sometimes children take advantage of it though.

A big problem I’m dealing with currently is a student who is autistic and was taken out of school 3-4 years ago and “home schooled.” This student is a constant issue with me in particular. They want to always argue when I ask them to do something and get on task, truly they throw temper tantrums and it’s something that our administration is working on. I hope that we can get something resolved though because it’s become a huge issue and almost every day they need to leave my classroom.

Right now with big issues I send to my administration, however smaller things I handle in house and we have a discussion. It usually stops right there and I don’t need to take it any further. Sometimes I need to write an email home though and that is never fun. I always get the next day “Ahh Mr. Rose you wrote my mom an email?!”
